CAWOW!

I watched The Ring Two today:

As I've said before, having an afghan over your head is the most propitious way to watch a scary movie. Notice it is daytime. Zube Boy and I actually argued about this. I refuse to watch scary movies at night anymore. I LOVE scary movies. Don't feel quite the same about the nightmares.

I really shouldn't watch them at all. I'm always sorely dissappointed in the evening when Zube Boy refuses to allow me sleep UP his ass. What a husband, eh?

This week's word is brought to us by Kjersten from Mezmerotonous. Thanks Kjersten!

ex·i·gent - adj.
1 : requiring immediate aid or action
2 : requiring or calling for much : DEMANDING
- ex·i·gent·ly adverb

So, I'm off to attend to the exigent care of my wisdom-toothless husband. Sweet dreams all!

Y'know, the way the folds & shadows on that afghan fall, I had to do a double take. I swear it looks like you're wearing it like a hood, but you're invisible! (if that description makes sense)

P.S. you are such a wuss, refusing to watch scary movies at night, even with the all-powerfull afghan.

Don't feel bad; I am the same. When there is no blanket available, I watch through the space between my fingers, slightly splayed. What is it about taking away peripheral vision that gives us the illusion of safety?

For this reason, I love having cable, where I can browse the options on the channels without having to see them. I can't tell you how many times in my life I've been flipping through channels only to run screaming from the room when I see the familiar green face of young Linda Blair in The Exorcist. Now THAT'S an exigent circumstance that requires my immediate removal from a room!

Ah, what does ZB know? He's had his wisdom teeth extracted, after all.

Phil- Have you been talking to Zube Boy? The word wuss was brought up yesterday during our 'discussion'. ;-)

Librarian- That actually happened to me last night! I was flipping through, and I passed by HBO and it was screaming little kid on The Grudge! Scared the shit out of me! Even though it was kind of fuzzy since we're not really supposed to get HBO. That made it even scarier looking for some reason.

Kyknoord- See, I would say this to him, but I had mine out a few months ago, so I'm lacking wisdom teeth, too!

I have to watch the scary parts through the fingers of both hands layered over eachother... or sometimes when I'm laying down I make a little peep hole between a pillow and the blanket over my head. Greg hates watching scary movies with me because I involuntarily scream, jump and grab him all at the same time which scares the ever living life out of him.

Now, off to my exigent business

Kjersten- I totally involuntarily scream, too! It's another part of the reason we don't go to the theatre to watch scary movies.

Good luck with the exigent business! :-) Thanks for the word!

Maybe I spent too much time in film school... movies just don't scare me because we learned how it was all done, and I can't seem to get that out of my head when I watch them. I hear people say something was scary, but I just don't get it.

Lil Cowgirl, however, is terrified of Gremlins now.

Real life is scary enough. Who needs movies?

Zubegirl, you would have appreciated this: Saturday night my husband was taking a shower and I was SO tired, I jokingly asked him if he would take a shower for me too. His answer was a resounding pppttttttttt (fart).

Yaaaar! Then 't must be true. For two fine, strappin', brilliant young lads have come to the same conclusion. Now stop gettin' yer pantaloons in a wad and watch yer movies like they were s'posed to be--at night, with narry a light on. Yaaaar!

Bonanza- See, I've been terrified of ghosts since I was a little kid. I once watched The Exorcist with a babysitter who made me promise not to tell my Mom when I was 10. Freaked me the fuck out. I finally had to break down and tell her because she and my Dad couldn't figure out why I'd refused to sleep anywhere but in their bed for three weeks straight. I think that may be the reason I'm still afraid when I watch anything scary.

TJ- The picture does look creepy, eh? I didn't think Two was half as scary as the original, but this was taken when she was crawling up the walls of the well, and she just LOOKS so scary, I couldn't bear it.

Junebee- That is too funny! Hee.

Phil- I KNOW! We were celebrating National Talk Like a Pirate Day here at work. Sadly, though, the GM wouldn't let us make reservations while posing as pirates. Dang.

Ok, I've said this before on Bonanza's blog...we should have been triplets!!! I so hate watching scary movies at night. Now, if it's one I've seen a zillion times..sure, but no new ones..forget it!!! The last time I watched one at night was when DH and I were dating and he was at my house, it was 2am and we were watching 'The Fog', when it was over, (scared the piss out of me), I walked him to the front door to see him to his car, open the door..
HOLY SHIT!! There was a this thick fog, just like what was on the movie, needless to say, he stay at my house that night.......

Day time is the ONLY time to watch a scary movie. Everyone knows that if you watch a scary movie at night, that will be the night when a mental patient will escape, hide in your closet, and murder you in your bed. Oh yes, it will happen!

TXSM- That would have scared the crap out of me! He just HAD to stay at your place after that!

I'm going crazy- Of course! Zube Boy sleeps on the bedside by the closet. He's a good guy like that, sacrificing himself to the scary closet people. However, I sleep by the door, so if a real murderer ever comes in, I'm first. I don't know how I feel about that!
