I'm Going All Meta and Stuff..

I have been reviewed all of two times over at Blog Explosion. The first review was a while ago and I received a 94% score. Kisses to that person, and I hope you were being sincere, because that high of a score actually surprised me. The second I received this morning. It was rather scathing, and here 'tis:

Word to describe your blog: Personal
What user liked the most: Great Photos/Images
Review Type: Rating
Design/Style: 1 of 5
Recent/Regular Updates: 3 of 5
Loadtime: 1 of 5
Interesting Content: 1 of 5
Technical Errors: 3 of 5
Colors: 1 of 5
Grammar: 1 of 5
Too many plugins: 3 of 5
Layout: 1 of 5

Review total score: 34 of 100%

I have only two contentions with this review. Firstly, I find it difficult to believe that you liked the great photographs I've got going on here. Case in point, the photograph below has my finger in the upper right hand corner. That's how about 85% of the pictures I take turn out. If you were going for irony, though, it did give me a giggle.

Secondly, my score of 3 out of 5 in the category of regular updates seems a bit harsh, no? I perused my archives and found that I missed seven days since June 4 which was the day I returned from vacation. Sometimes I post more than once in a day. Now, I could be posting absolute shit for content, but this is not a subjective question really. I don't know how much more I'd have to post to warrant a 5 out of 5 in your eyes, but you can bet that I'm not going to go there. I'm already fretting my lack of a life having only missed seven days of sixty-some. But, it's okay, because I go outside and play a lot.

Anyway, I'd argue that my grammar deserves a little higher than 1 of 5 because I think I spel reel gud, but sometimes I take liberties with the English language that might be interpreted as bad grammar, so I'll give you that one.

Thing is, I can handle constructive criticism. In fact, I was once lambasted in a post by another blogger who was not too keen on something I'd written about my ass. At first I was a little torqued about it, but then I pulled my thumb out of mouth and my head out of my rear end and said, "Gee Zube Girl. Another blogger didn't appreciate a post about your ass. Imagine that!" *Insert self-deprecating eyeroll here*

But, he had the decency to link to me so I would know what was going on, and respond accordingly. He had balls, so to speak. And, I respect that.

In summation, it would have been nice if you'd have made some suggestions in the comment box for me to suck a little less, or at the very least let me know what kind of technical errors I have on my page. But, I do thank you for taking the time to review my blog.

I don't usually blog about blogging. I find the metaness of it irritating. But, I've officially dubbed today, "I Don't Care, I Do What I Want!" Day.

Fuck off to that person who rated you low.....obviously they have no brain. I love you're blog, and besides.....what you post, and how you post is you're business, it's called "Freedom of speech", I say keep it up....we all love you!!!! Hell, we're not here to win a fucking 'Pulitzer' are we?

pshh..

Yeah, I was going to go through point by point, but it's just not going to happen. Too much effort and too much space. I can say only three things: 1) if your grammer is that bad.... the guy who rated you must have a giant stick up his ass. 2) the guy who rated you was probably trying to make up for his (or her) bad blog. My working theory is that they are going to rate every blog they can low so that theirs will be better by comparison. 3) I saw the guy that complained about asstastic. he was a moron, and I believe I told him so. Or maybe I just said that you were funny, I don't remember.

hee, I think I'll go rate you now... :)

txsm- Oh, I'm not getting my panties twisted or anything. :-) I actually am only arguing with the scores I received on fairly objective rather than subjective categories. I know you can't please all the people.

I actually find it a bit entertaining that someone went out of their way to hurt my feelings. Which they didn't, really. 'Cause I think it's funny.

Don't worry- they get all of us.

I got a 98% on my first one, then some guy said I could be tedious when I write about things only I care about. Ummmm, who's blog is this? I wasn't going for universal truth or anything.

Screw 'em- I love your blog.

Storm- Thank you for my review! I do know that my reviewee's server is in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. Other than that, it's a mystery!

Bonanza Jellybean- You may have noticed your rating improved. ;) But, I argue that it *is* a universal truth that bringing a kitty litter dessert to an office part will surely save you from having to bring a dessert in the future!

Inky- I had checked out your blog a week or so ago via, uh, maybe zazzafooky's links? I'm not sure. I like it, and you may have *also* noticed an improvement in your rating. :-)

Someone gave me all 1's last week. I couldn't understand it. Yes, these ratings are subjective- but regardless of what someone thinks of your subject matter.. you can't argue with good grammar, decent pictures, and a quick-loading design. From now on, I'm making it a goal to review one blog every couple of days so that people get scores they truly deserve. Frig the jerky cowards.

I like reading your blog, too. I'm a stickler for grammar, and I haven't seen anything on your blog that makes me shudder. Your posts are well-written, insighful and humorous...just what I look for when I want to read. I have you, along with many others, on my Bloglines so I know when you update. Keep up the good work :-)

Maybe they thought 1 was the high score? As in 1st. People do all sorts and is best not to take any of this seriously - high scores or low scores.

I'd like to know where you get to see all that detail on BE.... off to look at mine :-)

That rating is way off, love your blog! Keep up the good work!!!

What a fantastic article! It deserves a 10!

Zube said...

Momof2- It's pretty ridiculous that someone would do that. Let's see if I can't help remedy the situation a bit. ;-)

Linda- Why thank ya! I really do take the grammar bit to heart a little, only reason being that I am a bit of a grammar snob. I'm a little less anal about grammar rules here, because in my humble opinion, it's more interesting to read something a little less stiff than a term paper. Anywho...

Doris- I kind of doubt that that's what happened. And I'm not *truly* upset about it. Yeah, the grammar bit disturbs me, but I'm sufficiently over it now.

Steph- Thank you!

Fuck 'em and fee 'em fish heads. Your blog kicks ass.

Load time? That can depend on one's ISP.

Blog critics?? Just what the world needs. The whole idea of blogs was that people could voice their opinions freely. It's your opinion, your blog, and obviously alot of people enjoy it.

Believe me, I have seen some crappy blogs out there. This is not one of them.

I personally believe that it is one person whose agenda it is to bring percentages down. Or perhaps he/she is just bitter. Maybe they lost to you in a blog challenge and wanted retribution. Yours is the 5th blog I've read of this happening to. (6 if you include mine.) I mean really, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but please.

I just got the same sort of review 2 days ago. saying the same thing "personal/great photos".
then they rated me all ones. even though I update daily, have no plugins or technical errors.
and were nice enough to leave a summary comment saying "she should be embarrassed".

I've added a section to my sidebar for critic comments now..I think it made a nice addition :)

See how new I am - I had no idea such metadata existed. I spent enough time helping clients worry about tracking hits and trending - I'm in no mood to worry about it here, where I'm trying to have fun.

Glad it didn't bug you. Personally, I'm hoping for some nastygrams via e-mail. Got any of those yet?

Something I learned in customer service related fields: anonymous criticism is moot. Someone was jealous of all your fans, your cool layout, and the hilarious and stories you tell. From the results, I can faithfully say that was not a reader of your blog posting those scores, and therefore, their opinion is shit.

Zube said...

Chickie- Precisely!

Junebee- I suppose, though, that listing myself on Blog Explosion sets me up for honest reviews. It's the honest part that I'm wondering about.

And thank you. :-)

Ragdoll- I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Well, not glad for the others, but it is nice to not have been singled out.

Carrie- I would have felt a little better if they'd have left me a fun little assenine comment such as "She should be embarrassed." Cheers to you, because you obviously were a decent enough blogger to royally piss someone off! Kudos.

Mother Goosemouse- Oh my god, do I want hate mail. Seriously, how fun would that be?! I have yet to receive any, though.

Librarian Extraordinaire- I concur, wholeheartedly! :-)

Ah being the one who originally did not appreciate your ass, I most applogies. I have since become quite fond of your "ass" and you can send me pictures anytime you like.

I was new to blogging when I wrote that post. I have learned a lot since then. Your blog, with or without its web Divas template is very good. Having blogged for three months now I now can see I had my head up my ass no you will0 not be seeing pic). Who ever wrote that post probably just jealous I know I was but instead I turned my jealously into making a better blog. Thank you.

Zube said...

Croaker- Ah, how I love to see a happy ending. :-)

Our site got hit with a 38 review score. Hey,I just figured that person has some serious problems and let it slide. I agree with some of the posts above. Probably someone you beat in the blogathon or someone just plain f*cking crazy!

Was the reviewer 23101? He's been giving bad and sometimes malicious comments to five other BE members I know of.

I would suggest complaining to BE if you think the reviewer was just being an asshat.

Zube said...

Nicky- That's ridiculous! Seriously.

Mona- OH MY GOD, IT WAS! Okay, sorry for yelling, but I think I am going to let BE know. I guess there's no way to find out who that is, huh?

Zube said...

Inky- Awesome! I've got some really good reviews, too. And, I did e-mail BE. Maybe if enough people do, they'll do something about that user.
