Six Things That Nobody Knows About Me

I was tagged forever and ever ago by PaintingChef with this meme. It's going to be difficult to think of SIX things nobody knows about me because I suffer from a severe case of Overshareitis, but I'll give it a go.

1. I fiddle with my earrings when I'm nervous. And really, Zube Boy knows this, but no one else. It's kind of sweet that he picked up on it, too. I'll be playing with my earlobes and he'll say, "What's the matter, honey?" It's one of those things I never even knew about myself until he pointed it out.

2. I have OCD when it comes to change being left around the house. The other day, Zube Boy sauntered in after work and emptied his pockets of loose change on the counter. Minutes later he said, "Honey, I see that you've put my change in a neat little pile."

"I did?"

"Yup. In order, too. Quarters, nickels, pennies, then dimes."

"You know what really pisses me off, though?"

"What's that?"

"That dimes are the smallest. They really should be sized in between quarters and nickels, don't you think?"

"Really, I never put that much thought into it."

3. You wouldn't know it by looking at me, or you might, or you might not care one way or the other, but I'll tell you anyway. My thyroid is fine. Dammit. Okay, well, I guess I'm kind of happy that my thyroid and chooch are all healthy and shit, but it would've been nice to have an explanation for the miscarriage bizness. Oh well. More tests to come. Lucky me! I'm looking forward to having my uterus dyed and examined by ultrasound to look for fibroids or other such nonsense that might be screwing up the reproduction thang. Actually, I'm not looking forward to it at all. But, it'll be nice to get a full clean bill of health, I suppose.

4. When I was little my parents only let us kids have one glass of milk with our dinner. After that it was water. For some reason I was an anti-water kind of rugrat so I always made sure to save my milk for last. So I wouldn't run out during the meal. To this day, I still do that. I eat all of my dinner before drinking the beverage that goes with it.

5. Sometimes when I'm home alone, I'll gather up all of my journals from years past and read them in one sitting. I'll laugh and cry and roll my eyes. Truthfully, though, I never, ever want to forget who I was all those many and not so many years ago. You know? And reading things I've written in the past keeps me and who I used to be and am from slipping out of my memory.

6. I have a little straw angel that I bought after the abortion at a dollar store. I felt like I needed something to sort of signify and honor what was lost. The road I didn't go down. A lot of times, I'm afraid to tell people that because they'll use it as evidence that ABORTION IS WRONG otherwise why would I be buying a little angel to comfort me. But the truth is, it makes me feel better, so fuck what other people have to say about it.

One day, while my sister, Hoot, was staying with Zube Boy and I for the summer, I enlisted her help in throwing away a bunch of useless crap. She picked up the little straw angel and said, "What is this thing?" "Just an angel I bought." "Is it junk? Should I toss it?" From the next room, my fabulous husband whom I didn't even know was listening, yelled, "YOU CAN'T THROW THAT AWAY! IT'S SPECIAL TO HER!"

I'd only ever told him about it once. Years before. And he remembered. I fucking love that guy.

I'm not going to tag anyone, unless you ask me to.

wow he is an amazing man- how lucky for you. I have a big shaggy dog one of my ex bought for me after my abortion, he was such a sweet man I pushed him away soon after. However the big shaggy dog is in my daughters crib- like some type of gardian for her. (if she ever desides to come out already)

ZB is the greatest. Really.

And the dimes? I feel the same fucking way. I mean, come on. Who thought of making them out of order, size-wise? It's ridiculous.

i also love to re-read my diaries, its fun for me to suddenly start remembering stuff from ages ago.

and you are truly blessed with your man! if we could all find someone to love us like he loves you this world would be a really cool place!

Kylei- I can't believe she hasn't come forth yet! And don't worry, I'm sure even the healthiest of people push away people who are good to them from time to time. It's natural.

Storm- WTF is the deal with the dimes? I just don't get it. And he is so awesome!

Angel- It's crazy what you can almost forget! I'm so glad I've written journals. And I happen to think Zube Boy pretty much rocks. :-)

I'm going to send Boyfriend Mediocre over to your place so he can learn a bit from Zube Boy, k? 'Cause you can't be hogging all those good man skills in one person like that. He needs to share his wisdom and make the world a better place for couples everywhere.

I do the drink thing too!!! Wow.

Except that at home, we ususally share a drink when watching TV or something and eating, and husband drinks the whole time, so by the time I get to it, there's none left. So I make him get up and get more. :)

And you HAVE TO TAG. Others must share in the misery that is this meme.

All guys should have Zube boy's memory capacity. Most marriages would be vastly improved.

I understand about the straw doll. Just because someone is pro-choice it doesn't mean that abortion is an insignificant event. Zube Boy is a gem.

Dammit, Zube! You gotta stop pointing out how terrific Zube Boy is. One of these days, I might actually get a girlfriend, and if she reads my blog, then she'll check yours out, and then I'll be expected to live up to the standards Zube Boy is setting. So keep him a damn secret for crying out loud, will ya!

I am so with you on 1 & 2.
Sweety gave me some really nice earrings set in platinum and the backs were the kind that screwed on. Two days later I fiddled off and lost one of the backs while I was watching a movie at the theater. It cost me 16 damn dollars to get a new backing. I try not to fuck with my ears so much anymore but it's hard not to.

I went on holiday to America (CA mostly) last year and by the second day we'd accumulated loads of change and I was sitting there trying to work out what was what, and a waiter came up to me and offered his help and the first thing he said was 'dimes just don't make sense, they should be bigger than nickels'! Then my boyfriend pointed out that 10p coins are bigger than 20p coins over here (UK), however, 20p's are 7-sided, and not round, so I believe that makes up for it! I think I may have coin ocd too!

Great list! #6 was wonderful. What a guy you've got there. I need my own zube boy. (seperate from yours of course!!!)

I'm with Phil. except, how am I supposed to find a man as wonderful as Zube Boy? have you read my entries regarding the personal ads? REALLY.

Wow- you're an awful lot like me (you poor girl!)

In addition to a couple other things that I also do, I like to read my old journals too. I'm SO glad that I write because I forget some of the little stuff that made me so happy at the time. Reading it makes me happy all over again. The best reason? When I'm feeling like a loser, I go back to read the ugly stuff and see how far I've come.

Ya gotta love that.

Yet another example of how very cool Zube Boy is.

I feel the same way about dimes.

And I didn't like drinking milk, so I would drink it all right away while it was still reasonably cold. I wonder why you could only have one glass. If I tried to ration milk like that at my house, there would be a revolt.
